Be In The Know

FAQs: FAQs

Q:  "What is your typical process for working with a new client?"

A:  "Makeup artistry is all about helping my client bring to life his/her vision. My only goal is make you feel as beautiful and as genuinely YOU as possible. I don't create beauty from nothing, I enhance what is already there... With Services like Bridal Makeup, I highly recommend booking a trial, so we can realize your vision together, and have it down before the big day! One less thing to stress about right? I want to know you, and I'd love to sit and chat a bit before I jump in on makeup. I truly feel like my clients are my close friends, it's a very intimate thing to ask someone to trust you with how the rest of the world will see them, and to allow them to transform you in a way. That chemistry and trust should feel right from the beginning!"

Q:  "What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?"

A;  "I have been working as a makeup artist since 1999, both in retail settings and freelance. I've been honored to have worked for and be trained by some of the most amazing cosmetic companies including Sephora, Mac, Clinique, and Origins. I found that the part of that job that I loved was the client interaction, not the pushy sales... So I decided to get serious and only sell my talent. It's so much nicer not worrying about having to sell you anything other than myself and my expertise!"

Q:  "Do you have a standard pricing system for your service?"

A: "This is a very personalized service, and the best thing to do would be to fill out the questionnaire under the "contact" link, so that I can get back to you with a personalized quote!

Q:  "Do you have a Minimum Person Requirement?"

A:  "During Peak Wedding Season I do require a minimum amount in order to book. It is the equivalent of a Bride and 3 Attendants. Of course you don't have to have that many attendants, but the price remains the same. This is to ensure that I am able to run my business during the busiest time of the year, while being able to give you my full attention and time, and not having to double book myself for your day just so that I can pay my bills.

Q: "Do you have tips for Skin Care/Self Care leading up to my makeup day?"

A: "Yes! I have a document I will send you after booking with some handy tips, but this is also really where booking a trial becomes invaluable! We can go over skin care concerns, I can make recommendations and even send you a list of trusted products!"

Q: "How is Vanity Unveiled Artistry different from other makeup artists?"

A: "I love my fellow Makeup Artist Community! However, as a client, sometimes you vibe with some better than others.  While I like to think that I provide a luxury experience, I do with a casual touch. With me you will find no judgement, and no attitude. I have spent my career educating the public about beauty, and I love to share tips and best practices! If you're looking for the pretentious type, that's not me! I try to be a positive, calming force to the people around me. I am thankful every day that I have a career doing what I love. With that being said, I also make a conscious choice in whom I accept as a client. I want your experience to be as pleasant as possible, and while some stress may be unavoidable, I don't really abide any "diva" attitudes.

Q: "What is your idea of an Ideal Client?"

A: "I can get along with almost anyone! Events can be really stressful, and part of my job is to help minimize that stress and help you, if only for a few moments, enjoy the moment! My favorite clients are the ones that are down to earth, laid back and fun! I like to work to music, any music, and I've danced with clients, sang along with clients, taken tequila shots with clients (just one), joined clients in prayer, and even meditated with clients. We are a team on that day! Many of my former clients I consider friends to this day.

Q: " Do you require a deposit to book?"

A: "Yes. I require a non-refundable retainer of 50% of your total upfront to reserve your date. This usually happens after we complete your trial and you love it! (Which you will) The remaining balance is due 30 days before your date. I accept Venmo, Zelle, as well as Credit and Debit (with a small fee).  Cash always works as well. You will be invoiced and emailed receipts for your records.

Q: 'Why is Bridal Makeup more expensive than Special Occasion Makeup?'

A: "Bridal makeup entails a lot more than just special occasion makeup. Aside form the extra time and care to make sure you look perfect for your special day, there is the extra time doing administrative duty. We will correspond more than a few times, get timelines together, and probably change things a few times, it happens!"

Q: "If I want to book you for Bridal Makeup, do I HAVE to book a trial?"

A: "A trial is not required, HOWEVER, it is HIGHLY recommended. While I love the idea that you would just trust me completely on your Wedding Day, we might both feel better knowing on that day, amidst all the stress, that your makeup will look exactly how you pictured it!  Aside from that, as we get closer to your big day, we will have a timeline mapped out and agreed upon. If we spend your wedding day tweaking and making changes, and we go over in time, there will be an overtime fee.

Q: "Do you come to me or do I come to you?"

A: "I will most likely come to you, as my studio is still under construction. I do ask that we have a space free of small children or pets, just to minimize the possibility of damage to my kit, but also so that we can have a peaceful, collaborative time together... I want to be able to pamper you and give you my full attention. With that being said, as a Mother of both and humans and furry kids, if it cant be avoided, we will make it work!
